G-NEXID/UNCTAD side event on “Financing sustainable transport infrastructure and services as key enabler for South-South trade: the role of DFIs”

G-NEXID participates in the 6th Global Review of Aid for Trade

The Global Review of Aid for Trade is held every two years at the headquarters of the World Trade Organization (WTO), in Geneva. Taking place between 11 July and 13 July 2017, the theme of the 6th Global Review was “Promoting Trade, Inclusiveness and Connectivity for Sustainable Development”.

This WTO-led initiative encourages developing country governments and donors to recognise the role that trade can play in development. In particular, it seeks to mobilise resources to address the trade-related constraints identified by developing and least-developed countries.

Benefiting from wide presence of the trade and investment community, G-NEXID co-organised with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) a side event on 11 July 2017 with the theme “Financing sustainable transport infrastructure and services as key enabler for South-South trade: the role of development finance institutions”.

Taking place in the segment dedicated to “physical connectivity”,  the side event was moderated by Ms. Frida Youssef  (Chief, Transport Section, Trade Logistics Branch, Division on Technology and Logistics, UNCTAD) and included presentations from high-ranked officials of the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES), Development Bank of Latin America (CAF), Development Bank of Zambia (DBZ), ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) and Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM).
