The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted MSMEs through multiple channels, including with reduced demand amid uncertainties, impact of lockdown and restrictive measures, access loss to frontline customers, inability to source raw materials and export (UNCTAD, The COVID-19 Pandemic Impact on Micro, Small and Medium Sized Enterprises: Market Access Challenges and Competition Policy, 2022).
Against this background and bearing in mind the ongoing implications of the current geopolitical crisis in Ukraine (particularly exacerbating supply chain bottlenecks and inflationary pressures), G-NEXID held on 4 July 2022 a webinar dedicated to the experience sharing on strategies adopted by DFIs for picking up the pieces for sustainable growth of MSMEs.
The webinar addressed TDB’s role in targeting the Missing Middle’ through the Trade and Development Fund and ICIEC’s role in supporting SMEs in the post-COVID era.
The detailed report is presented in the Yearbook for 2022.
