As a side event to the 2022 ECOSOC Forum on Financing for Development on 26 April 2022, the online dialogue held with UNCTAD on ‘Innovative financing in support of the SDGs and trade as an engine for inclusive, sustainable growth: The role of development banks’ offered the opportunity to India Exim Bank, Nigerian Export-Import (NEXIM) Bank and Ghana Export-Import Bank (GEXIM) to present new initiatives.
These interventions were followed by the presentation of key aspects of UNCTAD’ study on ‘Public and development banks for inclusive, sustainable growth – early actions in the face of Covid-19 and lessons for the SDGs’.
Key questions addressed by the panel included:
- Challenges facing developing-country businesses in accessing trade finance under the current global context
- Financing mechanisms that can enhance supply chain and productive capacity in developing countries
- The role of development finance institutions in bridging the financing gaps in developing countries.
